A Season For Devotion

Lenten season in the Philippines is an important and eventful season, often regarded as the most important religious event in the Philippines alongside Christmas. Many Filipino citizens express their religiosity in many traditions and practices as they remember and celebrate the journey of Christ to the cross. In our barangay, we celebrate Lenten season in our very own church named Padre Pio Pietrelcinia Church.

It gets busy and hectic because other people from neighboring barangays attend our church instead of the town church that is jam-packed with people and is a possible health hazard due to Covid-19. Citizens from our neighboring barangay such as Panay Norte and Cabigbigaan attend, with that many attendees the church better needs more volunteers and sakristans. I and my friends is already a sakristan on the church but we still need to go out and recruit some of our friends and families for volunteering and hopefully many will participate.

As a sakristan, I am thrilled and ecstatic for the upcoming Lenten Season. It’s a chance to bond with my sakristan friends and a time to focus on my devotion and love for my religion. I look forward to the upcoming Lenten season, It’s a fun and exciting event that the whole country looks forward to.
